City of Meridian Launches Interactive Map Featuring Public Art Collection

MERIDIAN, ID – The City of Meridian has launched a new interactive public art map, designed to showcase and celebrate the city’s growing public art collection. The new website, accessible at meridiancity.org/publicart, provides residents, visitors, and art enthusiasts with a user-friendly platform to explore Meridian’s vibrant public art collection.

The website utilizes GIS technology and allows visitors to navigate the art collection with detailed information on each piece, including images, artwork descriptions, and the story behind each work of art. The collection includes sculptures, murals, traffic box and transit shelter installations, and other artworks placed throughout the city’s public spaces.

"We’re excited to provide a platform that shows off the incredible art in Meridian - I think we have many more public art pieces in the collection than most people realize," said Meridian Arts and Culture Coordinator Cassandra Schiffler. "We hope the website inspires even more people to get out and explore our public spaces and engage with art."

Public art in Meridian is primarily funded by the MAPS (Meridian Art in Public Spaces) ordinance that was adopted by the Meridian City Council in 2015. This ordinance established the MAPS program, which dedicates 50 cents per resident annually to fund public art installations in Meridian.

The City of Meridian invites everyone to explore the new website and discover the diverse public art collection that reflects the spirit of the city. For more information, visit meridiancity.org/publicart.
